Paul McCrane began his career in theatre in 1976 in The Physicists at the age of 15. A noted performance in Landscape of the Body followed in 1977. Paul McCrane starred as Montgomery MacNeil in the 1980 Alan Parker film FAME. Since then, he has worked extensively in the theatre, appeared in a few films, and has acted in numerous television shows. Most recently, he played the title character in one of last season's best X-Files episodes: "Leonard Betts" as well as a continuing role on ER. This page grew out of my X-Files fascination, specifically the "Leonard Betts" episode. Halfway through I realized I recognized the actor playing the title role. (Hey, that's Paul McCrane's head!) AND a viewing of FAME in early October, 1997 -- after not seeing the film for years. I became re-aquainted with how phenomenal Paul's performance as Montgomery was and I remembered how I felt about Alan Parker's story of a handful of talented young people.... Recently, Paul starred in one of the episodes of HBO's From the Earth to the Moon.
